I have been to this facility a few times when I have had to take my child in times when her Pediatrician was away. They have taken care of her and even given me a referral so that I may take her to a specialist to further evaluate her. It's not very far from my home at all. I'm glad they are also available after my child gets out of school, since her pediatrican's last appt. is at 3:30, I have time to go to Metro-UrgiCare and feel reassured.

It was the evening of July 3. I had experienced clogged sinuses along with gum and tooth pain previously but this time it was much worse than usual. This time I was also experiencing pain on swallowing. ย Over a period of time (years) I was in a vicious cycle between my dentist, Endodontist, and ENT. No one could figure it out. The dentist and Endodontist felt that a back tooth might need extraction. ย None of these were not respected practitioners. ย So in going to Urgent Care at the Nathaniel Place location my expectations were modest. ย But I felt awful. ย The young woman that performed my intake was very professional and noted all my symptoms. Then PA Timothy While came in to examine me. He too was extremely professional. He LISTENED ย carefully to all my symptoms - whole cloth - and noted as well the symptoms that I lacked, such as running a temperature. ย My final helpful โ€œaddโ€ to describing my symptoms to him was that โ€œI just feel really crummyโ€. ย  PA White absolutely nailed the diagnosis. ย He felt that it was sinus related and that a post nasal drip was causing inflammation and creating all this pain. He clearly EXPLAINED why he felt that this was the correct diagnosis. He prescribed a very short course of Prednisone plus a 14-day treatment with Fluticasone Proprionate. ย Within one day of taking the Prednisone and using the spray I was on the mend. ย  I no longer felt anxious going into the holiday weekend. ย  Two dentists and an ENT couldnโ€™t figure it out. Timothy White did. ย I donโ€™t often answer surveys and I am fairly critical in general. But, though belated, I felt it necessary to detail my experience and give a little more than โ€œa shout outโ€. ย In my humble opinion PA White would make a great D.O. ย My best, Elena Schwartz

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

According to the CDC, anyone who has been exposed to blood or body fluids of an infected person should get tested for hepatitis. This includes people who have shared needles or other drug-injection equipment, have had unprotected sex with an infected person, or were born to a mother with hepatitis. Additionally, healthcare workers and people who have lived in or traveled to regions with high rates of hepatitis are also recommended to get tested.

Importance of getting tested

Hepatitis, if left untreated, can lead to serious health complications, including liver damage, liver cancer, and even death. Early detection through testing is crucial for effective treatment and preventing the spread of the disease to others. Moreover, many people with hepatitis do not show symptoms until the disease has progressed, making regular testing even more important for those at risk.

Hepatitis testing options in Mount Vernon, NY:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

There are several urgent care and walk-in clinics in and around Mount Vernon that offer hepatitis testing. For instance, PhysicianOne Urgent Care in Mamaroneck offers same-day and next-day appointments which can be booked through Solv's website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are another good option for hepatitis testing. They can provide a comprehensive health check-up and can guide you through the testing process.

Free STD testing and community health centers

There are also community health centers in Mount Vernon that offer free or low-cost hepatitis testing. These centers are a great resource for those without insurance or those who cannot afford the cost of testing.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits for hepatitis are also available. These kits allow you to collect a sample at home and send it to a lab for testing. Results are usually available within a few days.

Prevalence of hepatitis in Mount Vernon

While specific data for Mount Vernon is not readily available, according to the CDC, New York State has a higher prevalence of hepatitis compared to the national average. This suggests that the prevalence in Mount Vernon could also be higher than the national average.

Risk factors related to hepatitis in Mount Vernon

Risk factors for hepatitis in Mount Vernon are likely similar to those in other parts of the country. These include drug use, unprotected sex, and exposure to infected blood or body fluids. It's also worth noting that urban areas like Mount Vernon may have higher rates of hepatitis due to factors such as higher population density and increased rates of drug use.

Other STDs in Mount Vernon

In addition to hepatitis, other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and syphilis are also prevalent in Mount Vernon. As with hepatitis, regular testing is crucial for early detection and treatment of these diseases.
