Haven’t had a primary care doctor in a few months, I was having a hard time finding a new one close by, and what a blessing it was to find out this place will see me as my primary care doctor. Everyone was super nice and helpful, and they had great personalities. I enjoyed talking with each and every one of them.

Urgent care
One of the better experiences I have had at urgent care. My wait was about an hour to get into triage. I was swabbed for three tests that I was told would take 10 minutes. Although it did take another 45-60 minutes for the doctor to deliver the results, I overheard that the staff was overworked, overbooked, and exhausted. They apparently had a very large influx of patients, and as a commercial service worker I understand. Everyone was friendly and thorough, and I believe they did the best they could. They are only human, and they are very nice humans indeed. I had Dr. Bradley Collins. I didn’t catch the receptionist’s name, but she was straightforward and helpful.

The exemplary staff of PA's are excellent. I have been so pleased with the entire clinic and all personnel. They are sincere and very caring. The techs are outstanding as well. I especially want to thank Ms.Lauren Johnson for her insightful knowledge and expertise in urgent care and follow up which resulted in being admitted to a Nashville hospital. Her follow up care has been very thorough with sincere and great patient care. This clinic is superb in every way and I am so thankful that this clinic is located in Murfreesboro. It is the cleanest clinic and I want to thank the PAs who prevented me from my pneumonia going into covid. This clinic is a blessing to Murfreesboro. And the PAS are sincere and caring and all are so thorough in expertise and follow up. The entire staff is caring and very nice. This clinic is superb and such a blessing to our city for patient care.

Urgent care in Nashville, TN

Nashville is home to HCA Healthcare, the nation's largest for-profit hospital company, yet Tennessee has not expanded Medicaid — leaving TennCare with strict eligibility criteria and creating a coverage gap for an estimated 300,000 low-income adults. For residents in Midtown, East Nashville, Germantown, and the broader metro who need same-day care without a lengthy wait, urgent care walk-in clinics offer accessible treatment at a fraction of what a Nashville emergency room visit typically costs.

When should you go to urgent care instead of the ER in Nashville?

Urgent care is the right setting for non-life-threatening conditions: strep throat, ear infections, sinus infections, UTIs, flu symptoms, minor cuts requiring stitches, sprains, rashes, and mild asthma flare-ups. Nashville's major emergency departments — including Vanderbilt University Medical Center, TriStar Centennial Medical Center, and Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital — report average ER visit times exceeding two hours for non-critical cases, according to HospitalStats.org, with a 98-minute spread between the fastest and slowest ERs in the metro.1 Chest pain, stroke symptoms, difficulty breathing, severe head injuries, and uncontrolled bleeding require a 911 call or ER visit; all other conditions are typically faster and less expensive at a walk-in clinic. For uninsured patients, the cost difference is especially significant: a Nashville urgent care visit commonly runs $100–$200 out of pocket, compared to $800 or more for an ER evaluation.

What do Nashville urgent care clinics treat?

Walk-in clinics across Nashville treat a broad range of common illnesses and minor injuries. Most locations offer on-site X-ray, rapid strep, flu, COVID-19, and mono testing, with same-day results. Providers routinely treat upper respiratory infections, ear and eye infections, urinary tract infections, skin conditions such as cellulitis and contact dermatitis, minor fractures and sprains, lacerations requiring closure, insect and animal bites, and seasonal allergy symptoms. Many Nashville clinics also offer occupational health services — pre-employment physicals, drug screening, workers' compensation care, and DOT physicals — serving the city's large healthcare, logistics, and hospitality employer base. Which urgent care providers operate in Nashville?

Nashville's largest urgent care footprint belongs to CareNow, the walk-in brand operated by HCA Healthcare — headquartered in Nashville — with multiple locations across the city including West End, East Nashville, and Downtown North Gulch, plus suburban sites in Green Hills, Brentwood, Hendersonville, and Lebanon. CareNow offers extended evening and weekend hours and an online Web Check-In system to reduce lobby wait times.2 TriStar Health, also an HCA brand, operates urgent care centers embedded within its network of hospitals and specialty clinics across the greater Nashville area, providing seamless referrals to higher-level care when needed. Ascension Saint Thomas Urgent Care serves neighborhoods including Inglewood and other Nashville communities, bringing the resources of a major faith-based health system to walk-in patients. Fast Pace Health operates Nashville-area clinics with transparent self-pay pricing and accepts TennCare. Check real-time wait times at Nashville urgent care clinics before you arrive.

Does Nashville urgent care accept TennCare and other insurance?

Most urgent care clinics in Nashville accept TennCare, Tennessee's Medicaid program, along with major commercial plans including BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, Cigna, Aetna, and UnitedHealthcare. TennCare covers approximately 1.4 million Tennesseans — including children, pregnant women, caretaker relatives of young children, and adults with qualifying disabilities — but Tennessee is one of roughly ten states that have not expanded Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act, according to the Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration.3 That means many low-income working-age adults between 19 and 64 do not qualify for TennCare. For those without coverage, most Nashville-area urgent care clinics offer self-pay rates and transparent flat-fee pricing for common visit types. Call ahead or check the clinic's Solv profile to confirm insurance acceptance before your visit at Nashville walk-in clinics.

What are Nashville's seasonal health patterns?

Nashville's climate drives distinct seasonal health patterns that shape urgent care demand throughout the year. Spring brings cedar and oak pollen surges across Middle Tennessee from late February through May, driving high rates of allergic rhinitis, sinus infections, and asthma exacerbations. Summer heat and humidity — with average July highs above 90°F — raises risk of heat exhaustion and dehydration, particularly among outdoor workers, construction crews, and attendees of Nashville's summer music festival circuit. According to the Tennessee Department of Health, heat-related emergency department visits increase significantly between June and August in Davidson County.4 Fall introduces a second allergy peak as ragweed pollinates through September and October, coinciding with back-to-school respiratory illness spread. Winter brings flu and RSV season; Tennessee's ER departments typically experience their longest waits from December through February. Urgent care offers a faster, lower-cost alternative for flu testing, antiviral prescriptions, and respiratory illness treatment throughout the year. For care across the metro, see urgent care in Nashville and nearby communities including Brentwood, Franklin, Murfreesboro, and Hendersonville.

Urgent Care FAQs

  • How long is the wait at urgent care in Nashville?

Most Nashville urgent care clinics see patients within 15 to 45 minutes, significantly faster than the city's emergency departments, which average over two hours for non-critical cases according to HospitalStats.org. You can check real-time wait times and book ahead on Solv to reduce your wait further.
  • Does urgent care in Nashville accept TennCare?

Yes, most Nashville urgent care clinics accept TennCare, Tennessee's Medicaid program. TennCare covers approximately 1.4 million Tennesseans, including children, pregnant women, and adults with qualifying disabilities. Tennessee has not expanded TennCare to all low-income adults, so eligibility is limited — check with your clinic to confirm your plan is accepted.
  • Is there 24-hour urgent care in Nashville?

Several Nashville-area urgent care clinics offer extended evening hours, often until 8 or 9 p.m., seven days a week. True 24-hour urgent care options are more limited; for after-hours emergencies, Nashville's freestanding emergency rooms at TriStar and Vanderbilt are available around the clock. Check Solv for current hours at your nearest clinic.
  • When should I go to the ER instead of urgent care in Nashville?

Go to the ER — or call 911 — for chest pain, shortness of breath, stroke symptoms (sudden face drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty), severe head injuries, uncontrolled bleeding, or any condition you believe is life-threatening. For everything else — flu, strep, minor injuries, UTIs, ear infections — urgent care is faster and less expensive.
  • Does urgent care in Nashville accept my health insurance?

Most Nashville urgent care clinics accept major commercial plans including BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, Cigna, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, and Humana, as well as TennCare. Self-pay rates are typically available for uninsured patients. Confirm your specific plan is accepted by checking the clinic's Solv profile or calling ahead.
  • What makes Nashville unique in terms of healthcare access?

Nashville is the headquarters of HCA Healthcare, the nation's largest for-profit hospital company, giving the metro one of the most developed hospital networks in the South. However, Tennessee has not expanded TennCare (Medicaid), meaning many low-income working-age adults fall into a coverage gap. Urgent care offers a more affordable entry point for the uninsured in Nashville than the ER.
  • Can urgent care in Nashville treat seasonal allergies and sinus infections?

Yes. Nashville's pollen seasons — cedar and oak in spring, ragweed in fall — are among the most intense in the Southeast. Urgent care clinics can evaluate and treat allergic rhinitis, sinus infections, and asthma flare-ups, and can prescribe antihistamines, nasal steroids, or antibiotics when appropriate. No appointment is needed at most locations.
