Urgent care
Scheduling was easy, I did it the night before. When I arrived, I was 2nd in line according to their link, and there didn’t seem to be many people there. Still, it took over an hour to be taken back and nearly 2 hours when all was said and done. This is my Urgent Care clinic of choice, but I’ve never seen this doctor before and it’s never taken this long in the past. Still, I would continue to use this clinic. Staff were friendly and my prescription was sent to my pharmacy promptly.

I have been miserable. I don’t like going to the doctor because I think “I’ll get better”. Went to acute care. OMG. In and out within 30 mins. The provider gave me multiple RXs to deal with my issues. Horrible cough, congestion, headache, itchy eyes…definitely miserable. Four days later…feeling better.

Urgent care
Tamara at Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care was phenomenal. She demonstrated an extraordinary ability to balance care, efficiency, and effectiveness while helping this grandmother navigate concerns involving potential cost, technology, and the delicate responsibility of communicating with my grandson’s parents. I had come from an ophthalmology appointment earlier that day where my eyes had been dilated, leaving me unable to read the small print on my screen. Tamara immediately adapted. She helped me navigate the technology and get screenshots transferred into the system so the information could get where it needed to go. But Tamara didn’t simply answer questions or provide technical assistance. She listened, problem-solved, and even negotiated to help find a workable solution. She understood that this wasn’t simply about an appointment or a bill. It was about helping a grandmother care for her grandson while respecting his parents, considering the potential cost, and making sure everyone had the information needed to make a good decision. Tamara combined compassion with competence and turned what could have been a frustrating situation into a manageable one. Her ability to provide care with efficiency and effectiveness—while never losing the human element—was exceptional. Little Spurs is very fortunate to have Tamara.

Went to ER scheduled ER follow up that day was a heavy storm called to verify and even though I got the text message for the next day, they did not see me on the schedule and made me wait till the next available in an agonizing pain left several voicemails. You never got a callback from management as requested.

Urgent care in Spring Branch, TX

Spring Branch is a small Hill Country community in southern Comal County along US-281, with urgent care needs served by clinics in Bulverde, New Braunfels, and far north San Antonio. Book a same-day visit nearby or in urgent care in San Antonio in under a minute.

What services do urgent care clinics in Spring Branch offer?

Urgent care for Spring Branch residents typically comes from US-281 and Loop 1604 clinics — handling flu, strep, UTIs, sprains, lacerations, ear infections, sports physicals, and on-site labs and X-ray.2 Methodist Healthcare, Baptist Health System, and Resolute Health Hospital in nearby New Braunfels anchor the area's hospital options, with affiliated Methodist ER and walk-in clinics throughout the corridor.

Does urgent care in Spring Branch accept STAR (Texas Medicaid)?

Most urgent care clinics serving the Spring Branch area accept STAR, the Texas Medicaid managed care program administered by Texas Health and Human Services.1 Because Texas hasn't expanded Medicaid, eligibility is largely limited to children, pregnant women, and very low-income families — KFF tracks Texas as the state with the highest uninsured rate in the U.S.3 Confirm STAR MCO acceptance with the specific clinic before booking.

How does Spring Branch urgent care relate to San Antonio?

Spring Branch is an unincorporated census-designated place with roughly 2,700 residents in southern Comal County, with a workforce heavily tied to commuting into the broader San Antonio area, ranching, and Hill Country tourism.4 Patients route south along US-281 into urgent care in San Antonio for everyday urgent care and higher-acuity hospital services.

Urgent Care Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are there urgent care clinics in Spring Branch?

Yes. Spring Branch, TX has walk-in urgent care available either directly in town or within a short drive in adjacent communities. Most clinics offer same-day visits for common illnesses and minor injuries, with on-site labs and X-ray where needed. Use Solv to see real-time availability and book a slot before you walk in.
  • Does urgent care in Spring Branch accept STAR (Texas Medicaid)?

Most urgent care clinics serving the Spring Branch area accept STAR, the Texas Medicaid managed care program administered by Texas Health and Human Services. STAR is delivered through several managed care organizations (Amerigroup, Molina, Superior, United, etc.), so confirm with the specific clinic which MCOs they contract with before booking. Texas has not expanded Medicaid under the ACA, so working-age adults outside the standard STAR eligibility criteria typically do not qualify.
  • What insurance do urgent care centers in Spring Branch accept?

Most Spring Branch-area urgent care clinics accept commercial insurance plans (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Humana), Medicare, and TRICARE for active-duty military and veterans. Many also accept STAR (Texas Medicaid). Cash-pay and self-pay options are widely available — average urgent care visit costs run $100-$250 depending on services. Confirm your specific plan and copay with the clinic before booking.
  • Should I go to urgent care or the ER in Spring Branch?

Urgent care handles non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries — flu, strep, UTIs, sprains, lacerations needing stitches, minor burns, ear infections, mild asthma flares — usually for a fraction of an ER bill and with shorter waits. Go to the ER (or call 911) for chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe trauma, difficulty breathing, severe abdominal pain, head injury with confusion, or any condition that feels life-threatening. The nearest hospital ER for Spring Branch residents is Resolute Health Hospital.
  • How far is the nearest hospital from Spring Branch?

The nearest full-service hospital ERs to Spring Branch are Resolute Health Hospital in New Braunfels (about 20 miles east) and Methodist Hospital Northeast in San Antonio (about 25 miles south). For non-life-threatening conditions, urgent care clinics in Bulverde and far north San Antonio are typically faster and significantly cheaper.
