About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), certain groups are more at risk for hepatitis and should consider testing. These include individuals who have been exposed to blood or body fluids of an infected person, those who have had unprotected sex with an infected person, individuals who have used intravenous drugs, and people with certain medical conditions. Additionally, anyone born between 1945 and 1965, a group with a higher rate of hepatitis C, should also get tested.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for hepatitis is crucial because it allows for early detection and treatment, reducing the risk of severe liver damage and other complications. According to the CDC, many people with hepatitis don't experience symptoms until the disease has progressed, making testing even more critical. Early detection can also help prevent the spread of the disease to others.
