Took a spill and feared a broken bone in my hand. South Huron Urgent Care took great care of me. Waited about five minutes to be seen. Dr Cindy is great!! X-rayed, splinted and I'm ready to go, with follow up instructions that she went over with me. ย She showed me the x-ray, and explained what was going on. They took time and care with me. Office staff is friendly and personable too. Highly recommend!!

Doctor Abdelbkais was extremely attentive and generous. Front desk was pretty good. The only thing the MA gave false readings on my vitals, the pulse ox never read, but she said she seen numbers. Other than that visit was good.

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

Anyone who is at risk of hepatitis infection should consider getting tested. This includes individuals who have been in close contact with someone diagnosed with hepatitis, those who have shared needles or other drug paraphernalia, individuals with multiple sexual partners, and those who have received blood transfusions or organ transplants before 1992. Additionally, healthcare workers and people who have traveled to countries with high rates of hepatitis are also at risk.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for hepatitis is crucial because it allows for early detection and treatment, potentially preventing severe liver damage. According to the CDC, chronic hepatitis can lead to serious health issues such as cirrhosis, liver cancer, and even death. Early detection can also help prevent the spread of the disease to others.

Hepatitis testing options in Ann Arbor, MI:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are also an excellent resource for hepatitis testing. They can provide ongoing care and management if you test positive for the disease.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Community health centers in Ann Arbor and nearby cities such as Ypsilanti and Saline offer free or low-cost hepatitis testing. These centers often provide additional health services and resources.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits for hepatitis are available for those who prefer privacy and convenience. These kits can be ordered online and typically require a small blood sample that you send back to a lab for analysis.

Prevalence of hepatitis in Ann Arbor

While specific statistics for Ann Arbor are not readily available, data from Washtenaw County, where Ann Arbor is located, can provide some insight. According to the CDC, the county has seen a steady increase in hepatitis cases over the past decade, mirroring national trends. This increase underscores the importance of regular testing, particularly for those in high-risk groups.

Risk factors related to hepatitis in Ann Arbor

Risk factors for hepatitis in Ann Arbor are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include unprotected sex, intravenous drug use, and close contact with a person who has hepatitis. Certain populations, such as men who have sex with men and individuals with multiple sexual partners, are at a higher risk.

Other STDs in Ann Arbor

In addition to hepatitis, other STDs such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, HIV, and syphilis are also prevalent in Ann Arbor. Regular testing is crucial for early detection and treatment of these diseases. Testing locations such as Faith Urgent Care in Livonia offer comprehensive STD testing services.
