Urgent care
Lab testing
Had been going to this location for all of our pediatric urgent care needs. Was forced to use our insurance today even though I explained that I wanted to be self pay that way we could use our HSA card which was the exact same amount as a self pay customer. Made for a disappointing experience and lady at the front desk just didn’t seem empathetic at all. Staff in back seemed checked out as well. Moving forward we will choose a different pediatric urgent care company for any future needs. Left really bummed.

Was able to see someone within 15-20 min and they gave me a prescription for my problem. Everyone was very nice and we go here regularly for minor things. It’s close and easy rather than going to primary care Dr and having to wait.

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

According to the CDC, anyone who has been exposed to hepatitis A, B, or C should get tested. This includes individuals who have shared needles or other drug paraphernalia, had unprotected sex, received a blood transfusion or organ transplant before 1992, or were born to a mother with hepatitis. Additionally, individuals born between 1945 and 1965, often referred to as the "baby boomer" generation, are at a higher risk for hepatitis C and should also be tested.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for hepatitis is crucial for preventing the spread of the disease and for early treatment. Hepatitis can lead to severe liver damage if left untreated, including cirrhosis and liver cancer. Early detection allows for prompt treatment, which can significantly reduce the risk of these complications. According to the CDC, many people with hepatitis do not experience symptoms until significant liver damage has occurred, making regular testing vital for those at risk.

Free STD testing and community health centers also provide hepatitis testing. These centers are a great resource for those without insurance or who are unable to afford testing otherwise.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits are also available for hepatitis. These kits allow individuals to collect a sample at home and send it to a lab for testing, providing a convenient and private option.

Prevalence of hepatitis in Grand Prairie

While exact figures for Grand Prairie are not readily available, Dallas County, where Grand Prairie is located, has seen a steady increase in hepatitis cases over the years. This trend aligns with national data, which shows a rise in hepatitis cases across the country. It's important to note that these figures may not represent the full scope of the issue, as many people with hepatitis are unaware they have it.

Risk factors related to hepatitis in Grand Prairie

Risk factors for hepatitis in Grand Prairie are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include drug use, unprotected sex, and having a mother with hepatitis. Additionally, the baby boomer generation in Grand Prairie, as in the rest of the country, is at a higher risk for hepatitis C.

Other STDs in Grand Prairie

In addition to hepatitis, other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and syphilis are also prevalent in Grand Prairie. Similar to hepatitis, these STDs can be tested for at local clinics, primary care providers, community health centers, and through at-home testing kits. Regular testing is crucial for early detection and treatment of these diseases.
