Everyone was very helpful. I booked the appointment the night before for 9 oโ€™clock when they open. I got right in and Dr. Emanuel came in. He was very thorough and answered all my questions and prescribe medication for me. I have been to urgent care a few times before and everyone is always so wonderful. I would recommend urgent care. I have insurance that covers everything. That was not a worry for me! I had booked my appointment the night before online.

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

Individuals who should consider getting tested for hepatitis include those who have been exposed to the virus, people who have had unprotected sex with multiple partners, individuals who have used intravenous drugs, and those who have received blood transfusions or organ transplants before 1992. Additionally, anyone who has been in close contact with someone diagnosed with hepatitis should also get tested. According to the CDC, it's also recommended for all adults aged 18 and older to get tested for hepatitis C, given the increasing prevalence of the disease.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for hepatitis is crucial as it can lead to serious health complications if left untreated, including liver damage, cirrhosis, and liver cancer. Early detection of hepatitis allows for prompt treatment, reducing the risk of these severe health outcomes. It's also essential for preventing the spread of the virus to others, as individuals can carry the virus without showing symptoms.

At-home testing

The prevalence of hepatitis in Central, LA, is consistent with broader trends observed across Los Angeles County. According to the CDC, there has been a steady increase in hepatitis cases over the past few years, largely driven by the opioid crisis and increased rates of intravenous drug use.

Certain demographic groups, such as baby boomers (born between 1945 and 1965), are also at a higher risk due to the lack of widespread screening and blood donation testing in the past.

Other STDs in Central

In addition to hepatitis, other STDs prevalent in Central, LA, include gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and syphilis. These STDs have similar risk factors to hepatitis and are often screened for together.
