The PA was kind and non alarming!ย  I didnโ€™t feel that way with the previous visit 2 days before! She explained things carefully, so I understood what I was dealing with and prescribed the correct medication! The previous PA told me I would get a call with the results of my urine ย test, but I never got that call and my antibiotics needed to be changed. I developed a fever and came in again! Not sure why I never got that call???

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

Hepatitis, a viral infection that causes liver inflammation, can affect anyone. However, certain groups are at higher risk and should consider getting tested. These include individuals who have been in close contact with someone diagnosed with hepatitis, those who have traveled to countries with high rates of hepatitis, intravenous drug users, men who have sex with men, and individuals with HIV. Furthermore, anyone who has engaged in unprotected sex, especially with multiple partners, should consider getting tested as hepatitis can be sexually transmitted.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for hepatitis is crucial because this infection often presents no symptoms until significant liver damage has occurred. Early detection allows for timely treatment, reducing the risk of severe liver disease, liver cancer, and transmission to others. According to the CDC, an estimated 2.4 million people in the United States live with hepatitis C, many of whom are unaware of their infection.

These include unprotected sex, intravenous drug use, and close contact with a person infected with hepatitis. Socioeconomic factors such as lack of access to healthcare and education can also contribute to the spread of hepatitis.

In addition to hepatitis, other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and syphilis are also prevalent in Baldwin Park. In 2018, Los Angeles County reported over 50,000 cases of chlamydia, nearly 20,000 cases of gonorrhea, and over 2,000 cases of syphilis.
