Went to ER scheduled ER follow up that day was a heavy storm called to verify and even though I got the text message for the next day, they did not see me on the schedule and made me wait till the next available in an agonizing pain left several voicemails. You never got a callback from management as requested.

Scheduling was easy, I did it the night before. When I arrived, I was 2nd in line according to their link, and there didn’t seem to be many people there. Still, it took over an hour to be taken back and nearly 2 hours when all was said and done. This is my Urgent Care clinic of choice, but I’ve never seen this doctor before and it’s never taken this long in the past. Still, I would continue to use this clinic. Staff were friendly and my prescription was sent to my pharmacy promptly.

I have been miserable. I don’t like going to the doctor because I think “I’ll get better”. Went to acute care. OMG. In and out within 30 mins. The provider gave me multiple RXs to deal with my issues. Horrible cough, congestion, headache, itchy eyes…definitely miserable. Four days later…feeling better.

Urgent care in Windcrest, TX

Windcrest is a small independent city completely surrounded by San Antonio in northeast Bexar County, adjacent to Fort Sam Houston (JBSA-Fort Sam) and the broader northeast San Antonio medical corridor. Walk-in urgent care clinics are within minutes in every direction as part of the dense San Antonio metro network. Residents access the full range of clinic options through urgent care in San Antonio.

What services do urgent care clinics near Windcrest offer?

Clinics in the northeast San Antonio corridor treat respiratory infections, flu, strep, UTIs, lacerations, sprains, and minor fractures. Methodist Healthcare System and Christus Santa Rosa Health System both operate facilities in northeast San Antonio, with urgent care and outpatient services accessible along Loop 410 and I-35.2 The proximity to Fort Sam Houston — home to Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC), the Army's premier military hospital — means TRICARE is a significant payer in the surrounding civilian market as well.

Does urgent care in Windcrest accept STAR (Texas Medicaid)?

Yes. Clinics in the northeast San Antonio area accept STAR, the Texas Medicaid managed care program administered by Texas Health and Human Services.1 Bexar County MCOs include Community First Health Plans, Molina Healthcare, and Aetna Better Health of Texas. Patients should confirm their plan is in-network at the clinic they choose before visiting.3

How does Windcrest's position within San Antonio shape its urgent care access?

Windcrest's population is approximately 5,316, per U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts — a small, stable residential city that benefits from being embedded in one of Texas's largest metros.4 Windcrest residents have essentially the same urgent care access as San Antonio residents, with no meaningful distinction between their city and the surrounding metro network. The northeast corridor along Loop 410 and Walzem Road hosts multiple freestanding urgent care centers and health system outpatient facilities. TRICARE acceptance is widespread given the large JBSA presence nearby. For all but the most acute emergencies, the San Antonio urgent care network covers every need.
