I made an appointment late the evening before. Was able to get a first appointment on the following day.  Staff was great. I left feeling confident I was going to be feeling better. I should have requested an antibiotic and steroid. The steroid I was given help with my symptoms immediately however it was o my 3 days worth of meds. Currently all symptoms have returned worse than before. This is not something that I consider an issue with the provider just the circumstances I am in.

Had been experiencing jaw pain for a few days and I knew I wouldn’t be able to see my dentist until at least Monday. I was hesitant to go urgent care on a Saturday, I assumed I’d be waiting forever and for jaw pain, they wouldn’t be able to do much. But actually, I reserved a spot online and they took me right away. The medical assistant and doctor were so nice, helped me as best as they could, and sent me home with a prescription that eased the pain tremendously the next day. I’d never been to this location before but I’m glad I made the trip and the next time I need to go to urgent care, I’ll be going here. Thank you everyone at AFC Piscataway !

First would like to say like to everyone working the day I came in. Had a bad fall and had to have stitches removed. Place was very nice and clean got an appointment right when I needed it. The receptionist was kind and helpful. The doctor and the pa on site were very friendly, kind and considerate of all my needs. I also had to have X-rays done to check something I didn’t feel when I fell a week before. With no problem they were also done and thankfully all was ok. I definitely will go back the next time for either me or a family or friends.  Ty so much Nicole

Overview of STD Testing in Princeton

Who should get tested for STDs?

According to the CDC, sexually active individuals, particularly those with multiple partners or those who engage in unprotected sex, should get tested for STDs regularly. This includes anyone who is sexually active, regardless of age, gender, or sexual orientation. It's also important for pregnant women to get tested, as STDs can have serious health impacts on both the mother and the unborn child.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is crucial for several reasons. First, many STDs do not show symptoms immediately, meaning you could be infected and unknowingly spreading the disease. Early detection through testing can prevent the spread of these diseases and allow for prompt treatment. Secondly, untreated STDs can lead to serious health complications, including infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased risk of HIV infection. Regular testing is a key part of maintaining your sexual health and wellbeing.

Std testing options in Princeton, NJ:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care and walk-in clinics provide a convenient option for STD testing in Princeton. Locations such as Carbon Health in Montgomery, NJ and Live Urgent Care in Pennington, NJ offer highly-rated services and can be booked for same-day or next-day appointments through Solv’s website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Your primary care provider can also conduct STD testing. This can be a comfortable option if you have a long-standing relationship with your provider. However, appointments may not be as readily available as with urgent care centers.

Free STD testing and community health centers

For those without insurance or with limited financial resources, free STD testing may be available at community health centers in and around Princeton. It's important to contact these centers directly for information about their services and eligibility requirements.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits are another option for STD testing. These kits can be ordered online, used in the privacy of your own home, and then mailed back to a lab for analysis. Results are typically available online within a few days.

Prevalence of STDs in Princeton

Princeton, located in Somerset County, NJ, has seen a rise in STD cases in recent years, mirroring a national trend. While exact numbers for Princeton specifically are not readily available, Somerset County reported a significant increase in chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis cases according to the CDC. This underscores the importance of regular STD testing for sexually active individuals in the Princeton area.

Risk factors related to STDs in Princeton

Risk factors for STDs in Princeton are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include unprotected sex, multiple sexual partners, and lack of regular testing. Additionally, certain demographic groups, such as young adults and men who have sex with men, are at a higher risk. It's important to note, however, that anyone who is sexually active can contract an STD, regardless of age, gender, or sexual orientation. Regular testing and safe sex practices are the best defense against STDs.
