Will not write about my experience other than the fact that the receptionist  young lady that checked me in and took my vitals was excellent. Do not want to share what followed.

All staff except for the provider were exceptional. Provider kept going on about his 55 years of experience therefore he knew better. But outside of what it must be, he could not offer any helpful advice or guidance or answer any of my other questions to save his life. I thought AFC was supposed to be about customer satisfaction… bedside manner left much to be desired here.

I have been to this facility a few times when I have had to take my child in times when her Pediatrician was away. They have taken care of her and even given me a referral so that I may take her to a specialist to further evaluate her. It's not very far from my home at all. I'm glad they are also available after my child gets out of school, since her pediatrican's last appt. is at 3:30, I have time to go to Metro-UrgiCare and feel reassured.

Making an appointment means nothing. They see you when they want to. They need more staff. They are all working double time but there are not enough of them.

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

Anyone who is at risk for hepatitis should consider getting tested. This includes individuals who have been in close contact with someone diagnosed with hepatitis, those who have engaged in unprotected sex, shared needles, or have a history of drug use. Additionally, healthcare workers, individuals with liver disease, and those traveling to areas with high rates of hepatitis are also advised to get tested. It's essential to understand that hepatitis often presents no symptoms, making testing the only reliable way to diagnose the condition.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for hepatitis is crucial as it can lead to severe health complications if left untreated, including liver damage, cirrhosis, and liver cancer. Early detection allows for prompt treatment, potentially preventing these severe outcomes. Additionally, knowing your status can help prevent the spread of the virus to others.

Hepatitis testing options in Dobbs Ferry, NY:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care and walk-in clinics provide convenient, same-day hepatitis testing. The Kingsley Clinic in White Plains, NY, and PhysicianOne Urgent Care in Mamaroneck, NY, are two nearby options. Both clinics have received high ratings and can be booked for same-day or next-day appointments through Solv's website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers also offer hepatitis testing. If you have a regular doctor, you can schedule an appointment for testing. This option allows for a more comprehensive health review and personalized advice based on your medical history.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Community health centers often offer free or low-cost STD testing, including hepatitis. These centers are a valuable resource for those who may not have insurance or who are looking for confidential testing.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits offer a private and convenient option for those who prefer to test themselves at home. These kits can be ordered online, and once the sample is collected, it can be sent back to a lab for testing.

Prevalence of hepatitis in Dobbs Ferry

While specific data for Dobbs Ferry is not readily available, Westchester County, where Dobbs Ferry is located, has seen a steady rate of hepatitis cases over the years, according to the CDC. This rate is relatively consistent with the national average, suggesting that hepatitis is a concern in this area.

Risk factors related to hepatitis in Dobbs Ferry

Risk factors for hepatitis in Dobbs Ferry are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include unprotected sex, sharing needles, close contact with a person who has hepatitis, and traveling to areas with high rates of the disease.

Other STDs in Dobbs Ferry

In addition to hepatitis, other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and syphilis are also of concern in Dobbs Ferry and the broader Westchester County. The rates of these diseases are comparable to the national average. As with hepatitis, regular testing is crucial to detect these diseases early and start appropriate treatment.
