Always a great experience at this urgent care. The staff is consistently kind, friendly, and attentive. Iโ€™m always seen quickly with little to no wait time. Had been experiencing jaw pain for a few days and I knew I wouldnโ€™t be able to see my dentist until at least Monday. I was hesitant to go urgent care on a Saturday, I assumed Iโ€™d be waiting forever and for jaw pain, they wouldnโ€™t be able to do much. But actually, I reserved a spot online and they took me right away. The medical assistant and doctor were so nice, helped me as best as they could, and sent me home with a prescription that eased the pain tremendously the next day. Iโ€™d never been to this location before but Iโ€™m glad I made the trip and the next time I need to go to urgent care, Iโ€™ll be going here. Thank you everyone at AFC Piscataway !

First would like to say like to everyone working the day I came in. Had a bad fall and had to have stitches removed. Place was very nice and clean got an appointment right when I needed it. The receptionist was kind and helpful. The doctor and the pa on site were very friendly, kind and considerate of all my needs. I also had to have X-rays done to check something I didnโ€™t feel when I fell a week before. With no problem they were also done and thankfully all was ok. I definitely will go back the next time for either me or a family or friends. ย Ty so much Nicole

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

Hepatitis, a viral infection that inflames the liver, can be contracted by anyone, but certain individuals are at a higher risk. According to the CDC, those who should consider getting tested include people who have been exposed to blood or body fluids of an infected person, individuals who have had unprotected sex with an infected person, drug users who share needles, and people with multiple sexual partners. Additionally, individuals who have traveled to countries with high rates of hepatitis, those with HIV, and healthcare or public safety workers who have been exposed to infected blood or body fluids should also consider testing.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for hepatitis is crucial because it allows for early detection and treatment, reducing the risk of liver damage. According to the CDC, chronic hepatitis can lead to severe health problems like cirrhosis, liver cancer, and even death. Early diagnosis can also help prevent the spread of the virus to others.

Hepatitis testing options in Bound Brook, NJ:

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are another option for hepatitis testing. They can provide a comprehensive health check and guide you through the testing process. If you have a primary care provider in Bound Brook, NJ, consider reaching out to them for testing.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Community health centers often offer free or low-cost STD testing, including hepatitis. While there may be income or residency requirements, these centers provide an important service for those who may not have insurance or who are underinsured.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits are another option for those who prefer privacy or cannot travel to a clinic. These kits can be ordered online, used at home, and sent back to a lab for results.

Prevalence of hepatitis in Bound Brook

While specific data for Bound Brook is not readily available, Somerset County, where Bound Brook is located, has seen a steady number of hepatitis cases over the years. According to the CDC, New Jersey as a state has a lower hepatitis prevalence compared to the national average. However, it's important to remember that hepatitis is still present in the community, and testing is crucial for prevention and early treatment.

Risk factors related to hepatitis in Bound Brook

Risk factors for hepatitis in Bound Brook are similar to those nationwide. These include unprotected sex, sharing needles, exposure to infected blood or body fluids, and travel to high-risk countries. Local factors, such as the prevalence of drug use or high-risk sexual behaviors, can also contribute to the risk.

Other STDs in Bound Brook

In addition to hepatitis, other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and syphilis are present in Bound Brook and surrounding areas. As with hepatitis, regular testing for these STDs is crucial for early detection and treatment. Testing locations like NJ 365 Urgent Care in Kendall Park and Metrodoc in Perth Amboy offer comprehensive STD testing services.
